Dog Park

I just have to talk about this...

My husband and I have two amazing puppies (when I say puppies I mean to full grown dogs that are our children)
Audrey (the cocker spaniel) and Lady (the lab)

Today, we took them to the dog park.  I love the dog park!! My mother once went with me and compared it to the play dates that she once had with us as children.  A typically day at the dog park includes walking into a fenced in area.  All the humans casually introduce their dogs (not themselves)  and then literally discuss their dogs like children.  We discuss how to raise well behaved dogs, what healthy foods to feed them, the best schools, and allergies.  The park is divided into a small dog section and a large section.  We have one of each and spend most of our time in the large dog section because Audrey can hold her own.

This weekend is the first weekend that it hasn't been cold or snowing in a couple of weeks so the park was crazy.  We decided to walk first so that the lab would burn some of her energy before going into the park.  We adopted Lady about a year ago, have put about 20 pounds on her and she is know finally normal weight for a lab.  We don't know what happened to her in her previous life, all we know if that she is the sweetest, most lovable dog and the perfect addition to our family.  At the dog park she loves to chase but can be a tid bit of a bully.  She never bites or is aggressive but barks pretty loudly while she is chasing.  At the park today we walked in and Lady went straight in and went to chasing.  I literally walked in and was yelled at by an abrasive man who was treating to "boot" my dog. This man was obviously not a "regular" like me because I didn't know who he was, so I tried to stay calm and explain that my dog just barks loudly but isn't aggressive.   I have never been so braided in all my life.  This man continued to attack me, yell at me, accuse my dog of being aggressive and threaten to kick my dog.  He told me 4 times that he would "boot" my dog.  Me being the polite person I am... called him "sir" and told him to trust me.  This didn't work.  In the end we had to leave the dog park.  David came and convinced me to leave.  Now as Lady is curled up on my feet I am still fuming about this.  I pride myself on being a responsible dog owner.  Like I said they are my children.  Any person who threatens physical harm to animals is not a true animal lover and any man who treats a human like I was treated this afternoon is not truly a kind person.  I mean who could be mean to this face
